Your selection
of a venture capitalist is an important decision for your company.
You should look for one who has experience in your industry and
is knowledgeable of your product and market. It is also helpful
to select a venture capitalist close to home who will be available
on short notice.
Valley Ventures looks for companies that can grow to $50 million
in annual sales within a five-year period. Valley Ventures is
more inclined to take a technology and/or product risk than a
market risk, since technology risks can be eliminated much earlier
in the product development phase. It is important to remember
that venture capitalists invest in people, not products. A strong
management team is a big asset when raising money. Valley Ventures
is an active investor, continually working with the management
team to help them achieve success.
The most efficient way to initiate the process is to send us a
business plan or executive summary. However, if your ideas have
not made it to paper, we are available for consultation during
the development of the concept. After reviewing the business plan,
if there is initial interest, we would schedule a meeting to discuss
the plan in detail. Visits to your company and meetings with the
founding team would be the next step. Assuming serious interest
exists after these meetings, we would begin a due diligence effort.
A final decision usually is made between one and three months
after initial contact.
